I don't pretend to be an expert on anything in life, especially not parenting.

I've only done it three times so far, for a total of four years, and I learn new things every day.

Parenting, and especially the topic of schooling, are infamously contentious subjects for discussion and debate, and may people claim to be an authoritative voice on the subject for whatever reason. Often they have rather polarising views on the subject and some even set out to rile their readers up to generate attention and activity.

Understandably, this often generates a lot of heated discussion between opposing parties, each trying to defend their point of view on the decisions they've made for their own children, and what they feel others should do with theirs.

I most certainly am not an expert.

What I do know, however, is that I know a hell of a lot more about it than I did while I was waiting for my first child to be born, four years ago. Back then I had absolutely no idea what was about to hit me, and I was living in a blissful ignorance, waiting for baby to come careering into my life.

Furthermore, I had no idea what it was going to be like trying to parent a high learning potential child, with all their added intensities, sensitivities, oddities and extravagances, which would only add to the challenge.

I'm writing these posts for him.

Everything I write on this website is intended as a form of advice or reassurance for myself as an expectant father, who had absolutely no idea what was ahead of him, and how he was supposed to deal with all of the turbulent challenges to come.

So if, like us, you're relatively new to this parenting gig, and would like to see what we've been through and how we've overcome the various trials and tribulations of raising HLP kids along the way, then read on and enjoy our selection of trip reports, book reviews, philosophical debates and pages of reassurance that it's all going to be okay.

I hope you find them useful too.
